The Love Guru: Music from the Motion Picture in Haiku

The Love Guru: Music from the Motion Picture
Lakeshore Records (6/17/08)
Soundtrack (Rock / Pop / Comedy)

Myers’ latest farce

every raga-like pop song

not by Harrison.

“Brimful of Asha”

Fatboy Slim as Norman Cook

’97 called.

Myers’ “More Than Words”

in-and-out Hindu accent

hurts surprising track.

“The Joker” also,

as well as his “9 to 5”

oddly entrancing.

But Celine Dion

doing “I Drove All Night”, well,

cannot be excused.

Middle tracks get hung

up on token rap and dance

cuts that are filler.

“Guru Vindaloo”

Hindu-dance funk, better thought

than execution.

Guru soundtrack is

so lightweight it would float if

dropped from a tall tree.
