More Reasons Why Being Deaf Sucks/Rocks – Charm City

I really do love Baltimore. It’s a great city with a unique identity and a vibrant culture. It’s gruff but with a hint of friendly. It’s really hard to pinpoint exactly why I dig this town but here are a few of the reasons why Baltimore rocks…

I’ve been in town just over a month and I’ve already seen Bilal and Erykah Badu in concert, respectively… and both shows rocked. Erykah put on one of the best shows I’ve seen since I saw Badly Drawn Boy at the 9:30 Club in D.C. She’s got an amazing presence and had the audience completely enthralled. Bilal’s gig was equally dope, though the audience kind of sucked. Still, it was really cool hearing material from Love for Sale live.

On the bus today I saw a guy rocking a Big Pun memorial t-shirt… and I had to do a double-take. I’m a fan of Pun’s so to see another repping him slayed me. Granted, it could have just been laundry day for him, but he still owned the shirt.

Today at work my coworkers were pumping classic Jay-Z in the back… and before you knew it we were all reciting lines and bonding like I haven’t felt in ages. It’s really cool to work with black people again.

I work with people excited to see Janet Jackson in concert… as it’s really cool to work with black people again, and gay people.

The lack of the blistering Las Vegas sun makes walking places kind of enjoyable… which means more opportunities to fully explore Third the new Portishead album, which kicks serious ass.

And those are just off the top of my head. I’m telling you, Baltimore’s a real crackerjack town.
