News on Raw Unforgiven Scramble Match

News

In his latest blog entry, Smackdown announcer Jim Ross wrote about the “Scramble” gimmick match scheduled for Unforgiven…

WWE Hall of Famer Pat Patterson told me that he loved the idea of the “Championship Scramble” coming up at Unforgiven in about 3 weeks. Patterson created the Royal Rumble concept and apparently Pat has visualized the “Championship Scramble” and he feels certain that it will be exciting. Before critics damn the match perhaps we should allow it to actually happen. I am reserving my opinion until I see the match. The success of this unique attraction is all in the execution, as usual. Plus it is a chance for multiple wrestlers to shine. Someone we unexpect may have a jaw dropping performance.

Fair enough.

Oh and if you want to know the rules of the match… here they are, from WWE.com:

Once the clock starts, it’s every man for himself. If any of the Superstars scores a pinfall or submission on any of their competitors, they become the current champion. But that’s not nearly the end of it.

The championship can change hands several times throughout the 20-minute time frame. Whoever the champion is when the clock stops will officially be recognized as the World Heavyweight Champion.

According to F4Wonline.com, two wrestlers, including the Champ, will start the match, with the others entering the ring at five-minute intervals. So, this is kind of cross between War Games, an Elimination Chamber (minus the chamber) and hot potato.
