Sleeping Beauty giveaway + Haircare tips

Giveaways

Sleeping Beauty is on DVD, celebrating its 50th Anniversary no less. But wait, Walt Disney is off a year, because SB was released in 1959. Eh, what’s a year or two? What is important is that it’s the twelfth Platinum Edition released by the Mickey Mouse Company. A less heralded classic when compared to the Snow Whites and Bambis, Beauty was the first animated film to be created in 70mm format. (How’s that for useless trivia to retrieve on a rainy day?)

Thanks to the Disney company the Lounge is giving away copies of the Platinum release of Sleeping Beauty. But be sure to follow the rules below. All entries MUST be sent to the following e-mail address: dvdcontests@4sternstaging.com.

Be sure to include the phrase “TIRED EYES” in the subject line or your email will not be received.

SYNOPSIS: Restored to dazzle new fans with its pristine picture and sound quality, the final fairy tale to be produced by Walt Disney himself, the Sleeping Beauty Platinum Edition is a spectacular widescreen event that transports viewers to a magical kingdom. Filled with romance, adventure and humor, the beloved animated classic’s 50th Anniversary release celebrates the exhaustive work of
The Walt Disney Studios Restoration and Preservation team who have successfully mastered the meticulous processes of creating stunning technologically-advanced Hi-Def productions from classic footage created by Walt Disney and his team in the first golden age of animation.

One of the studio’s most ambitious undertakings, Walt Disney’s original animated Sleeping Beauty features an Academy Award® nominated score adapted from the incandescent music of Peter Tchaikovsky. Its breathtaking action sequences and extravagant musical production numbers charm adults and children as they delight at the antics of Flora, Fauna and Merryweather, the bubbly and bumbling fairy godmothers, and cheer the gallant Prince Phillip in his quest to save Princess Aurora.

Well thank goodness. According to Digital Spy, “Jessica Simpson has revealed that she has learned to embrace her natural beauty.

The singer has admitted that she no longer cares what other people think of her and opens up about the versatility of hair.

Speaking to Marie Claire, the 29-year-old said: “I don’t have anything to prove anymore. What other people think of me is not my business.”

As for handing out hair advice, she added: “People think updos are so hard, but they’re not. Your hair should look tousled and undone.

“If I’m in a mood to go out and feel hot and sexy, I want long hair that I can feel on my back. But I also like bed-head.”

Hair Care through All Seasons

Hair Care

Hair needs the appropriate care through the seasons

Every season brings its own stressors for hair. Regional climate conditions may expose hair to extreme heat or cold. Luckily, we now know how to keep hair healthy, and that modern hair care products and TLC erase the effects of environmental conditions. In the hot months of the year, the sun bleaches the pigments in our hair. Quite often, this leaves hair dull and lifeless.

It’s therefore important to know about UV hair protection.  Finding out your hair type is vital look at this chart explaining 4c hair – here. Living in heated rooms during the cold season of the year may create another problem for the health of our hair. Dry heated air leaves hair dry and brittle. We know how to protect hair, and that using a potent moisturizer ensures the health of scalp and hair.

Simpson’s new show The Price Of Beauty is currently airing on VH1.

Well-tended hair with a rich glow is a precious beauty asset

Dull hair is a problem for many women. Hiding dull hair under a hat is not the only solution. The proper care and hair protection tips can restore the shimmering beauty of your hair.

Over-processing is the most common reason for dull hair. The use of the flat iron, blow-dryer and other styling tools can damage hair and so can daily styling and dry heated air. It’s therefore crucial to know how to protect hair from heat.

Aside from using the proper hair care products and methods, it is always a good idea to avoid using damaging styling tools and procedures, and protect hair from heat.

But when we wake up in the morning and look in the mirror, we want to look refreshed and beautiful before we even start our beauty rituals. Does this make us lazy?

So while we will never cease to slather ourselves with lovely oils and use natural minerals to perfect our complexions, there are more ways to enhance beauty naturally. Here are some favorites:

Use cosmetics when the need arises

Using cosmetics is not to make you look a clown, its suppose to help you emphasize the features on your face that you want to pronounce and noticed. You can also use cosmetics to de-emphasize the feature you don’t like.

There are thousands of skincare products being sold on the market today, and it sometimes can be a brutal battle trying to find one that will be effective and give you the result you are looking for. The first thing you should know is to avoid products that contain chemical ingredients as this will only make it worse. Stay away from harsh ingredients such as alcohol, parabens, fragrances, mineral oil, and dioxane. Avoid using them and you will be doing your skin a favor.

Stress reduction is a must

The lifestyles of today are fast and strenuous and this can have an adverse effect on the eyes and skin. Pampering yourself and relaxing on a daily basis is a must. If you are a highly stressed person, it is vital that you pay attention to your facial expressions as this can be the cause of the appearance of wrinkles.

LISTEN TO YOUR BODY

If you drink beverages that make you dehydrated, such as coffee and alcohol, hydrate before and after to negate the effects. If you love your morning coffee, I’m not saying you should give it up.

The body uses water to cleanse. If we can’t flush them out that way, they build up in other places or show up on our skin.
