Blatant Bias

I hardly believe this is coming out of my mouth…well…fingers…but whatever…

Let’s say Michigan State knocks off Ohio State this weekend, OSU follows that up with a tough game at Penn State so all of a sudden OSU has two losses and still has to go to Michigan, which no matter how bad Michigan is, that’s still a loseable game for OSU. So they could end up with 3 losses. Michigan State in the mean time follows up it’s game with OSU with a game at Michigan and we’ve seen MSU collapse in recent years. MSU can easily lose to Michigan. They follow that up with a game against Wisconsin which is better than they’ve played the last 3 weeks. And I would actually favor Wisconsin in that game. Then Michigan state ends the season with a loss to PSU.

Now, I’ve already ruled out PSU losing, they’re running the table and going to the National Championship. That leaves the Rose Bowl open.

Minnesota has two challenges left on the schedule(Wisconsin and Michigan). Purdue should be a win, although they always play us tough. Northwestern is a pretty good team this year, but we can definately get by them. Michigan is the same, but Richie might be over looking us and I think we can finally get over that hurdle. That leads us to the Wisconsin game which is in Camp Randle, which despite their lack of recent success there, is not a good place for us to play. We then finish at home against Iowa who we can beat. If we beat Purdue, Northwester, Iowa and one of Wisconsin/Michigan, we only have 2 Big Ten losses sending us to the Rose Bowl!!!!!

Am I saying this is going to happen? No. Do I think it’s going to happen? No. Would it be amazing if it happened? Yes. Would we have a chance of winning the Rose Bowl against a team like USC who would probably be the oppenent? Yes. If the Japanese bomb Pearl Harbor again and they move the game to Minnesota…outdoors in Minnesota. Tell me USC would like playing a game outdoors in January in Minnesota. Ok, ok…so we might have get a couple guys from USC drafted into Military Service…hey, I didn’t say it was a good chance we’d be them, I’m just coming up with a chance we could.

All that being said, I still feel a little bit dirty actually coming up with a plan where the Minnesota Golden Gophers could make the Rose Bowl. Adding to that feeling is the knowledge that I could not name a single player from the team.
