Welcome back to the Friday night Smackdown report! It’s been a long week so kick off your shoes, grab your favorite drink, curl up in your favorite chair, and follow along with us for the next two hours as WWE heads down the road to the Royal Rumble…

THE WHOLE WORLD IS WATCHING!

The show opens with a video recap of Jeff Hardy’s hit and run accident last week. Smackdown is brought to us MyNetworkTV with ringside announcers Jim Ross and Tazz. Smackdown General Manager Vickie Guerrero is in the ring with a bad mic and she reminds everyone what happened to Triple H last week after he disrespected her. Trips interrupts by making his entrance and tells Vickie that he is sorry and that she taught him the error of his ways. He has an envelope in his hand, tells her he got them for her and he tells her that it is her nude photos. She says his apology is not good enough for her and she tells him that he will have a match against the Big Show and it will be a Last Man Standing match. HHH says he thought something like that would happen so he shows her the monitor with her photos with the appropriate parts blacked out. She tells him that he won’t be fighting for his place in the Royal Rumble and the person fighting for Trips will be M.V.P. and he is banned from ringside and we go to commercial break.

We see a video of Jack Swagger who won the ECW Championship by defeating Matt Hardy this week.

Tag Team Match: ECW Champion Jack Swagger and “The World’s Strongest Man” Mark Henry with Tony Atlas vs. Finlay with Hornswoggle and Matt Hardy

The referee calls for the bell and Hardy faces Henry in the ring. Matt manages to get Mark down to the canvas before tagging in Finlay. Finlay goes for the cover and gets two but gets caught in a body slam and Henry tags in Swagger. Jack misses an elbow drop and Finlay delivers a short clothesline. Finlay manages to kick Mark off the apron but gets sent sternum first into the post. Jack goes for a cover and gets two and we go to commercial break.

Back to the action, Finlay is down in the ring and Swagger is tagging in The World’s Strongest Man. Henry uses the ropes to choke Finlay, tags in Jack who covers and gets two. Swagger delivers a back body drop, covers and gets one. Finlay fights to get to Matt but Jack delivers a blow to the back and has Finlay in the corner. Finlay goes down to the mat but Swagger comes off with a splash attempt and misses, allowing Finaly time to get to Hardy. Matt delivers a few clotheslines and a bulldog, covers and gets one. Atlas rolls Hornswoggle in the ring, allowing Henry to nail Hardy, Finlay interferes and gets taken out by Jack but Matt nails the Twist of Fate and gets three and the win.

Winners: Matt Hardy and Finlay

Nice first match although the commercial break in the middle tends to throw things off. Vickie and Edge are backstage. Chavo and Big Show are there but Edge is worried about Show. He sends Chavo off to do his errand boy duties and we go to commercial break.

R-Truth is backstage with “The” Brian Kendrick and Ezekiel Jackson and it appears the pair have it in for Truth. Todd Grisham is backstage with Michelle McCool to talk to her about her heel turn. We see video of McCool beating up on all of the divas including Maria and Eve Torres and McCool says all of the girls are jealous of her and that’s the problem. Victoria shows up to tell her that she doesn’t scare her and she’s about to find out why. MVP is in the locker room with Trips and he tells HHH that he needs the win as much as he does.

R-Truth and we go to commercial break.

vs. “The” Brian Kendrick with Ezekiel Jackson

The bell rings and the two lock up with R-Truth backing Kendrick up in the corner, Brian charges but gets caught with an arm drag. TBK has Truth down on the mat and then slams him into the top turnbuckle. Brian goes for a cover and gets one before going for the half Boston crab, then switches to a chin lock. R-Truth gets back to his feet and delivers a right, then a kick to the head but gets sent into the ropes, Kendrick covers and gets two and goes back to a submission hold but Truth elbows his way out. Truth delivers a power slam as TBK comes off the ropes, covers and gets two. Truth delivers a spinning corkscrew kick, covers and gets three.

Winner: R-Truth

This was a decent match and I credit Kendrick for making it fast paced and lively. After the match, Zeke takes out R-Truth. Trips and Porter are still in the locker room with HHH giving MVP a pep talk which includes a sledgehammer and we go to commercial break.

Paul Marshall’s got you covered on Monday nights with Pulse Wrestling’s Real-Time Raw Report!

We see a video of “The Moscow Mauler” Vladimir Kozlov in training.

Last Man Standing Match: Big Show vs. MVP

Porter doesn’t wait until he gets to the ring as he attacks Show on the ramp with a steel chair. Big Show tries to get into the ring and Montel delivers a kick but when Show does make it into the ring, Porter rolls out with Big Show right behind him. Show slams MVP into the guardrail and then delivers a blow to the head when he gets to his feet. Montel sends Show into the steel steps and then dropkicks him into the steel post head first with the crowd chanting “MVP! MVP! MVP!” Show gets to his feet and MVP goes after him, but he gets nailed in the chest and ends up on the floor and we go to commercial break.

Back to the action, Porter is getting tossed around the ring like a rag doll in the ring. Show delivers a chop to the chest with Montel’s top unzipped so hand meets skin. MVP is back up at the count of eight but he gets sent across the ring again and the ref starts counting. Porter uses the ropes to get back to his feet but Big Show picks him up and slams him to the mat. MVP jumps on Show’s back and looks like he’s going for the sleeper hold but Show flips Porter over his head and down to the canvas. Big Show sends MVP over the top rope and the ref is counting but Show comes outside just in case and sends him back first into the guardrail and the two workers head up the ramp with Big Show delivering a suplex on the entrance ramp. Porter rolls off the side of the ramp and down to the floor with the ref counting but MVP is back up at eight again. Big Show delivers another slap to the chest before throwing Porter onto the top of the entrance ramp. Montel back up at eight only to be knocked down again. Show picks MVP up for a choke slam but HHH appears and delivers a blow to Show’s back with a sledgehammer. Both men are down but MVP makes it back to his feet and Show gets counted out.

Winner: MVP with a little help from Triple H

Finally, MVP wins a match! He certainly took a beating and kept on going. Tazz says there is big announcement concerning the WWE Hall of Fame and we go to commercial break.

Mr. Marshal picks up the action again on Thursday with Total Nonstop Weekly!

We see a video of Umaga who will be returning to Smackdown soon. Chavo, Edge and Vickie are backstage discussing what just happened to Big Show. Undertaker appears on the monitor to talk about being in the Royal Rumble this year. Pictures of the entrants to the Royal Rumble match are shown and Taker tells us that he will be winning that match and we go to commercial break.

WWE Slam of the Week is The Bella Twins vs. Victoria and Michelle McCool with McCool attacking Victoria after they lose the match.

Michelle McCool vs. Victoria

McCool immediately slaps Victoria and slides out of the ring where Victoria goes after her and rolls her back in the ring. Victoria delivers shoulder blocks in the corner. Jim Ross tells us that Victoria is retiring and wanted to dedicate this match to the troops. Victoria delivers a standing moonsault and gets two. McCool goes up to the top but Victoria makes her lose her balance and then climbs up after her for a super plex, covers and gets two. Victoria goes to the top and misses a moonsault off the top. McCool delivers a short dropkick to the face, covers and gets two. McCool goes outside and works on Victoria’s left leg on the apron, then rolls back into the ring to work on the leg and knee some more. McCool uses the ropes to inflict more damage, then applies a half crab. Victoria uses hair to make McCool break the hold. McCool delivers a heel hook but Victoria makes it to the ropes. Victoria sends McCool into the ropes and then goes for a roll up for two. Victoria delivers a baseball slide for two but McCool delivers a face
breaker and gets three.

Winner: Michelle McCool

Victoria was great in this match and I am sorry to hear that she is retiring. McCool is starting to not wear much to the ring. Trips and Vickie are backstage and HHH says that he was not near ringside and therefore he is still in the Royal Rumble but Guerrero tells him that next week he will face Kozlov, who is undefeated and we go to commercial break.

We see a video of “Stone Cold” Steve Austin who is the first Iinductee into the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2009. Kevin Rudolph’s “Let It Rock” is the official Royal Rumble theme song. JR and Tazz go over the card for the Royal Rumble pay per view .

“The Rated R Superstar” Edge enters the ring for The Cutting Edge segment and we go to commercial break.

Vladimir Kozlov is on the monitor talking about his match next week against Triple H and claiming that he will remain undefeated after facing HHH. Edge first talks about himself and how his only focus has been to take back his WWE Championship from Jeff Hardy but there are so many distractions trying to shift his focus from the photos of his wife or whether he has to worry about Jeff even though Jeff has a black cloud that hangs over his head. Edge says he’s afraid Hardy won’t be able to make it to the Royal Rumble after being in the hit and run accident. Edge then directs our attention to the big screen and we see a video of Jeff Hardy and Edge and the WWE Championship. Edge then introduces Jeff Hardy as his guest tonight and as Jeff enters, the pyros go off wrong and nail Jeff in the face. Matt Hardy, Jimmy Wang Yang and Hurricane Helms come running out yelling for help as Jeff is down on the entrance ramp and they grab a stretcher. R-Truth comes out to help and it is “how many workers does it take to get Jeff Hardy on a stretcher?” Vickie comes out and watches with Edge as Jeff is rolled to the back and that’s all, folks!
