Reviews, Shows, Top Story, TV Shows

It is Monday and time to catch up on all of the backlash from Wrestlemania 25! Your regular host, Mr. Marshall, couldn’t be here tonight. Follow along with us for two full hours of Raw action…

THE WHOLE WORLD IS WATCHING!

Monday Night Raw is brought to us from Houston, TX on the USA Network. Our ringside announcers are Michael Cole and Jerry “The King” Lawler.

Randy Orton, who lost his match against Triple H at Wrestlemania, comes to the ring to complain about HHH cheating last night and how the fans liked seeing him get beat. He wants a rematch. Vince McMahon appears and heads rather quickly to the ring. Randy bails. Vince tells Orton if he wants a McMahon, he’s in the ring. Randy should not have threatened the McMahon grandchildren and Vince says that Orton will not get another chance at a championship match again but he will get Backlash and he will get a match with his friends DiBiase and Rhodes against HHH, Shane and Vince. Orton wants to face McMahon tonight one on one. Vince says it’s on and we go to commercial break.

Lumberjack Match for WWE Unified Tag Team Championship: John Morrison and The Miz vs. Carlito and Primo ©

Morrison ends up on the floor and gets beat by the lumberjacks before making it back into the ring for Primo to go for a pin, getting one and we go to commercial break.

Back to the action, John has Primo down on the canvas and we see that Primo made it out to the floor during the commercial break. Miz gets the tag and goes for a cover but Carlito is in to break it up. Primo delivers a jawbreaker and Carlito is in. Carlito delivers a corkscrew neck breaker but can’t get the three. Carlito and Miz both go off the top turnbuckle to the floor, Morrison goes up top and dives onto the lumberjacks taking everyone out on the floor. Miz and Carlito are back in the ring, Miz covers and gets two. Carlito goes for a cover but John breaks it up. Primo and Jon are on the floor, Carlito goes for a backstabber, Miz has the ropes, delivers a roll up and gets two. Carlito nails the backstabber, covers and gets the three.

Winners and still WWE Unified Tag Team Champions: Primo and Carlito

A great opening match that would have been great for Wrestlemania. Primo and Carlito do a spectacular job as a tag team. Shane and Vince are backstage. Shane is asking about the six man tag match at Backlash and he is concerned about his Dad facing Orton and we go to commercial break.

Diva’s Tag Team Match: Jillian Hall, Mickie James, Kelly Kelly and Layla vs. Eve Torres, Gail Kim, Natalya, Maryse, and Maria

Gail Kim and Melina start the match, both end up on the floor with Melina getting worked over on the outside. Natayla gets the tag and Mickie gets the tag. I am not overly fond of Natalya’s outfit but I do like her style. There is a fight on the floor. Mickie James delivers a roll up and gets the three.

Winners: Mickie James and team.

Shane meets up with HHH backstage to discuss the upcoming match between Vince and Randy. Trips says he will talk to Vince but he doesn’t know if it will help and we go to commercial break.

WWE Slam of the Week: Wrestlemania match between Rey Mysterio and JBL for the WWE Intercontinental Champion. Mysterio wins and JBL quits to the joy of all of the fans in attendance.

Wrestlemania All Star Tag Team Match: Jeff Hardy and CM Punk (MITB winner) and Rey Mysterio (new Intercontinental Champion) and Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat and John Cena (WWE World Heavyweight Champion) vs. Y2J Chris Jericho and Kane and Matt Hardy and Big Show and “The Rated R Superstar” Edge and we go to commercial break.

Back to the ring, Matt and Rey are in the ring, but Jeff gets the tag and Matt races to tag in Edge. Jeff goes for a cover, gets two and tags in Cena. Ricky wants the tag and the crowd wants Steamboat. He comes off the top and goes for two. Kane gets the tag, misses a corner squash and Steamboat is cleaning house. Kane catches Ricky in a side slam and Jericho gets the tag. Jericho tags in Show who chokes Steamboat and then threatens the referee. Show tags in Jericho who delivers a clothesline and covers for two. Ricky gets back to his feet, breaks Jericho’s hold but Chris tries to lock in the Walls of Jericho, but Steamboat reverses and goes for a roll up for two and Punk gets the tag. Punk delivers a high knee in the corner, a bulldog, and starts knocking opponents off the ring apron. Kane nails Punk, Jericho covers, but Punk kicks out. Jericho tags in Kane who delivers a boot to the head and we go to commercial break.

Back to the ring, Punk is fighting off Kane but as he comes off the ropes, Kane delivers a boot to the face and tags in Matt who covers for two. Matt tags in Edge who covers for two. Edge tags in Show who picks up Punk by the hair and delivers a head butt before standing on Punk’s head. The ref breaks it up, Show mouths off at the ref and delivers a chop to the chest. Show tags in Edge with a hard slap to the hand. Kane gets the tag, putting Punk on the top turnbuckle but Punk knocks Kane down and comes off to get caught in a choke slam attempt. Punk switches it into a DDT and both men are down. Punk’s left arm is hurt. Edge gets the tag and so does Jeff who takes Edge down, covers and gets two. Matt enters the ring, Jeff takes Matt out, tags in Cena, Show is in, Rey gts the tag, Cena takes Show over the top, Mysterio gets caught by Jericho but 619’s both of them, goes to the top, Steamboat and Mysterio off the top, Rey covers Jericho and gets the three.

Winners: Rey Mysterio, Ricky Steamboat, CM Punk, John Cena and Jeff Hardy

I could have done without the two commercial breaks but this was one great match. I could watch Steamboat every week. He’s still got it. Fortunately we got to see more of Mysterio tonight than we did at Wrestlemania and the others did a wonderful job of making this match work. Triple H is backstage with Vince to talk about the match with Orton and tells him to finish it tonight and we go to commercial break.

Interim General Manager of Raw, Vickie Guerrero, is brought out in her wheelchair pushed by Chavo Guerrero. She says that after Wrestlemania she will have the option of one show or the other and she is going to be the permanent GM of Raw. Edge will have a mandatory rematch against John Cena for the title at Backlash. Cole and Lawler talk about Wrestlemania 25. Vickie is back to tell everyone that the Edge vs. Cena match will be a last man standing. Dibiase and Rhodes are backstage with Orton and we go to commercial break.

Miss Wrestlemania Santina Marella is introduced and The Glamazon Beth Phoenix and Rosa Mendez enter the ring. Phoenix challenges Marella to a match tonight and Marella accepts the challenge.

The Glamazon Beth Phoenix vs. Santina Marella and we go to commercial break.

The ref calls for the bell, a minor tussle, Marella delivers a roll up and gets the three.

Winner: Santina Marella

It was a cute little skit but a total waste of Beth Phoenix.

Randy Orton vs. Vince McMahon

Vince delivers the first blow and then the second and continues to work on Orton where he was nailed by the sledgehammer the night before. Orton rolls out and McMahon is right behind him, slamming his head into the announcer’s table. The action moves back into the ring and Randy delivers a back breaker and the tables are turned with Orton delivering an RKO. Orton backs up for the kick and Shane is in the ring tripping up Randy but Rhodes and Dibiase are right behind him and Shane is getting a beating. Trips is out last, taking out Cody and Ted before coming after Orton. Now it’s three on one as Vince is outside and Shane is dropped. Batista’s music hits and here comes The Animal to clean house. Rhodes is left to get beat on by everyone who can get back to their feet.

I don’t think there was a winner. Batista is back and it looks like he has sided with the McMahon. Vince has a mic and says Orton was right. Batista will be taking Vince’s place at Backlash.

Thank you for joining us. Have a great week and Paul Marshall will be back next week. Join me on Friday for the live Smackdown report on Pulse Wrestling!
