The Hills – Episode 5-1 Review

And so begins the last season of The Hills

For some ridiculous reason or due to major denial, Heidi thinks it will be a good idea to go to Lauren’s surprise birthday party uninvited. Stephanie has the chance to tell her that it wouldn’t be the best idea, but no, she encourages it. Disaster looming…

Heidi lies a bit about going to Lauren’s party and tells Spencer it’s a girl’s night out and Lauren may happen to be there. Yeah, ok. Spencer has plans of his own with his friend Charlie. The two take a shot of Petrone as they flirt a little with the bartender.

Lauren is happily surprised about her party, which is on a boat in Marina Del Ray and includes gambling. That is, until Heidi walks in with Stephanie. She is obviously bothered my her presence and, without making a scene, calls Stephanie out for inviting Heidi.

Audrina assures Heidi that everything is okay. What is with the fake politeness? Stephanie begins to start a pushy conversation with Lauren about Heidi. What a day ruiner. Lo tries talking sense into Heidi, but she’s not having it.

Cameron, Stephanie’s ex-boyfriend, happens to show up at the same bar as Spencer. He makes it seem like he’s hanging out with the hot bartender Stacie and begins to flirt some more. Meanwhile, Cameron the snitch texts Stephanie about Spencer’s flirty antics.

Stephanie gets the text and tells Audrina she’s not going to tell Heidi, but ends up  telling her anyway. Heidi, for some reason I’ll never understand, is shocked by the news of her shady boyfriend/fiance/fake husband/whatever he is. She wants off the boat and Stephanie consoles her. Too bad they are stuck and Spencer is conveniently not answering.

Heidi gets in touch with Spencer and he denies the whole thing. So maturely, Spencer goes and hits Cameron for ratting him out. It was probably the most pathetic fight I’ve ever witnessed. “Hit me first so I can hit you.” Spencer is such a tough guy.

Heidi is freaking out and Lauren tells her that Spencer is an asshole. Lauren is actually very nice and tries to be graceful, but then the tears start flowing. The girls cry in each other’s arms and decide to hit up the bar. Everyone leaves and Heidi and Lauren actually seem somewhat on good terms. Until next episode…
