One Tree Hill – Episode 6-23 Review

Top Story

What can I say? This week’s much-anticipated wedding of Lucas and Peyton was…well, a little underwhelming. I was expecting this big ordeal since these nuptials are a long time coming. But no, we got more subplots and minor character screen-time than needed.

First, the wedding was small and intimate, which I liked. It was kind of thrown together quickly and it still looked pretty enchanting. My one major issue was the lack of important guests. Hello?!? Where were Karen, Andy, Lily, Whitey, Deb and Peyton’s dad? They all seemed to be around for Lindsey and Lucas’ almost-wedding, but couldn’t make it for the Leyton wedding? I think this was some poor planning, especially since Peyton’s condition may very well be fatal.

Haley got ordained and performed the ceremony, which I thought was very fitting. She needed a role in the whole thing, so I agreed that this was a nice choice. Her cringeworthy speech however, could have been a little better. She and Nathan had some hot scenes though! They ducked into some room during the reception and had “slutty wedding sex”. About time!

My favorite part of the episode (which should have been the actual wedding, but it wasn’t) was the return of Julian! Lucas invites him to the wedding for Brooke, but Julian brings Missy (Brooke from the movie) as his date. This leaves Brooke going crazy looking for a date, which she finds in Nick Lachey.

Brooke and Julian spend most of the wedding reception trying to make the other jealous. Julian takes a few funny stabs at Nick and his boy band days. Mia plays at the reception (surprised? me either) and dances around the idea of sleeping with Chase, the “tool” from Laguna Beach.

Brooke admits she misses Julian and it’s hard to see him with Missy. Julian stops by Clothes Over Bro’s and basically tells Victoria off. He says that one day Brooke will realize that she loves him and that when that day comes, Victoria won’t be in her life anymore. He relates to Brooke because he has a similar situation with his father. “Goodbye, Victoria. Feels like I’ve known you my whole life.” Love it. Love him. I feel like if Julian wasn’t introduced this season, I wouldn’t have liked it nearly as much.

Anyway, Lucas and Peyton get back to their house and he is excited to show her the Comet, which is fully restored. But, when he gets back to the rooom, Peyton is lying unconscious in her own blood. Lucas cries as she lies in his arms.

Next week’s finale should be good. Peyton will have the baby (and may or may not die) while Julian and Brooke hopefully reconcile. Sadly, looks like this will be the last episode with Chad and Hilarie as regular cast members. Personally, I’m pissed. Rumor has it that new characters will be introduced. Yeah, because that worked so well with The OC. Why can’t they end on a high note? Ugh. It’s going to be a sad day next Monday!
