Chris John Out of Rematch With Rocky Juarez

Chris John has pulled out of his Jun 27th rematch with Rocky Juarez. According to ESPN.com, Chris John pulled out due to an unspecified blood problem. John found cause for concern when he fainted after three rounds of sparring. A blood test revealed that something was wrong with Chris John. A required blood test two weeks earlier revealed no problems with John’s blood.

This was to be the second meeting between Chris John and Rocky Juarez. Their first bout in February of 2009 was ruled a draw.

Rocky Juarez still wants to fight on the 27th as Golden Boy is on the search for a replacement. The HBO doubleheader will now be headlined by light welterweight prospect Victor Ortiz against Marco Maidana. HBO will need to approve the opponent of Rocky Juarez, if one is found, in order for it to make the live broadcast.
