Anthony Johnson vs. Yoshiyuki Yoshida at UFC 104

Rising contender Anthony “Rumble” Johnson will face fellow welterweight Yoshiyuki Yoshida at UFC 104 in October. The show, which features a main event between light heavyweight champion Lyoto “The Dragon” Machida and Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, will take place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

The report comes courtesy of MMA Junkie, who says that bout agreements have been issued and are expected to be finalized shortly. It will be Johnson’s first bout since his June arrest for domestic violence, a charge which Johnson’s agent claims is completely fabricated.

“Mr. Johnson is completely and unequivocally innocent of all charges,” Ken Pavia said prior to UFC 100. “These charges are completely outside the realm of Mr. Johnson’s character; he has no prior criminal record and has never been in trouble with the law. Unfortunately, professional athletes are frequently made the victim of such false accusation. As this has been a stressful time for Mr. Johnson, we ask that judgment is withheld until all relevant facts have come to light.”

Yoshida is 10-1 in his UFC tenure, with all ten victories coming by way of a stoppage. His lone loss came at the hands of a brutal uppercut from Josh Koscheck.
