With Taken becoming a smash success early this year, Pierre Morel looks to capitalize with From Paris with Love, a breakneck actioner that comes to theaters in 2010. Take a look at the trailer and see if John Travolta is in the kick-ass zone.
From Paris With Love stars Jonathan Rhys Meyers as an embassy worker and John Travolta as a spy, thrown together by some apparent misunderstanding and charged with smashing, crashing and all-round actioneering in order to thwart a terrorist threat in the French capital.
Europacorp time and time again has proven that it knows how to churn out highly stylized and successful B-action movies, most of which are co-written by Luc Besson (Leon: The Professional and The Fifth Element, among others).
From Paris with Love may be a play on words of that famed James Bond pic, so I’m expecting plenty of chicanery. My tongue will be firmly lodged in cheek.
Up next for Pierre Morel is Pursuit, his first project for a major studio (Universal). Based on the synopsis, I’m intrigued:
Pursuit is an action thriller is based on the early career on conflict photographer Jason Howe, who fell in love with a woman while on assignment in Columbia, only to later discover that she is an assassin for right-wing death squads. The studio is searching for a screenwriter for the project.
