Rich Chou appointed as Strikeforce matchmaker

News

Strikeforce has finally appointed an official matchmaker without a conflict of interest.

Former EliteXC and “Rumble on the Rock” employee Rich Chou has been tasked with matchmaking duties. The hiring is effective immediately.

Mike Afromowitz, the Director of Communications for the company, released a statement today regarding the hiring.

Strikeforce matchmaking was previously done by a committee headed by Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker, but most of the matchmaking was actually done by Bob Cook. Cook’s involvement created a unique situation for the company, as he also serves as an instructor at American Kickboxing Academy. Cook is also involved in managing AKA fighters, leading many journalists to point out the serious conflict of interest.

The press release states that Chou will immediately begin handling matchmaking duties for the show, including booking fights for the Nov. 7 CBS show featuring a main event of Fedor Emelianenko vs. Brett Rogers. Though the main event is the only official bout on the CBS card, there are several bouts and fighters rumored for for the show.
