10 Thoughts On SmackDown – 10.02.09

Reviews, Shows, TV Shows

1. The tenth anniversary of SmackDown means a big backstage party. I guess I’ll be making numerous references to this throughout so bare with me, it could get tedious.

2. The horror that is Kane getting fed to Batista. Sure, Batista has a tag title match at the pay per view but that’s no excuse to just halt all momentum Kane has going for him, god only knows if he’ll ever get another push again.

3. Excuse me! It appears Vickie Guerrero is back and has brought Eric Escobar with her. I’m loving that new talent is getting a shot on the main shows and while she always annoyed me Vickie does make a great heel so I’m certainly not complaining about this grouping.

4. How dare Zack Ryder not be allowed into the VIP area? We all know he’s one of the best things on ECW right now. You know it!

5. I’m not going to joke around about Eddie Guerrero’s tribute video. I’m glad that WWE acknowledged him at the tenth anniversary show, we all know he deserves it.

6. John Morrison & The Miz! In the same ring together after so long. Here’s hoping they go one better and give us some kind of singles match between the two at some point, just for some closure of one of the best WWE tag teams in recent years.

7. The Rock guest hosting RAW would be a massive ratings boost for the WWE and the USA network. As such I’d expect WWE to be pulling for him to host sometime during sweeps. Whenever it is, it’ll be the one RAW I actually look forward to watching.

8. Is the horror of the Michelle McCool vs. Melina feud finally over? We can only hope readers, we can only hope.

9. An excellent eight man main event to finish off the tenth anniversary of SmackDown. The faces were always going to go over during this match so the end wasn’t too much of a shock but it was still great to see so much main event talent in the ring at one time. Sadly a number of them managed to bore me, but let’s not get into schematics.

10. Considering this was the big tenth anniversary show there really was only two reasons to watch – the eight man tag match and the pre taped Rock video. Honestly I was let down and think that so much more work should have gone into making this a memorable show.
