Josh Koscheck announced via his Twitter account  (@JoshKoscheck)  today that he would not be meeting Matt Hughes in his next bout, but rather Mike Pierce.

Koshceck brought up the topic with an initial message regarding Hughes and Georges St. Pierre, the current UFC welterweight champion.

Bad news! Not fighting matt Hughes :( but the good news is…. I’ll be wipping GSP’s ass real soon!!

He followed up that message three minutes later with this message announcing Pierce as his next opponent.

Koscheck is coming off of a quick victory over Frank Trigg at UFC 103 last month. He is 2-2 in his last four fights, losing to Thiago Alves and Paulo Thiago, while defeating Yoshiyuki Yoshida and the aforementioned Trigg. “Kos” has long been working his way to a rematch with Georges St. Pierre.

Mike Pierce made his debut in the UFC last month at UFN 19 where he pulled off quite the upset, defeating Brock Larson via unanimous decision. Pierce will enter his fight against Koscheck with a professional record of 11-1.
