WEC 44: Pettis withdraws from bout with ‘Razor’ Rob McCullough

News

Anthony Pettis has dropped out of his Nov. fight with “Razor” Rob McCullough due to an undisclosed injury, reports MMAjunkie.com. The bout was scheduled for WEC 44, a card headlined by featherweight champion Mike Brown and challenger Jose Aldo.

Pettis debuted in the WEC back in June, gaining his first victory while wearing the blue gloves and moving his undefeated record forward. This bout with McCullough was expected to be his toughest fight to date.

The search now begins for a new opponent for “Razor” Rob, whose last fight ended with a split-decision nod from the judges in his favor over Marcus Hicks. McCullough has only lost two fights since 2004. Top WEC lightweights Donald Cerrone and Jamie Varner are the two men that have defeated him in the past five years.

WEC 44 is set for Nov. 18 at The Pearl at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada. The card will be featured live on Versus. McCullough will still be fighting in Nov., but his “main card status” remains uncertain.
