Fedor Emelianenko Injury Update: Out 4-6 weeks

News

A report from Lance Pugmire at the LA Times quoted Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker as saying Fedor Emelianenko would  be out as long as half a year. However, a report from Loretta Hunt at Sherdog.com suggests at this point in time that the recovery will be a lot smoother than once believed.

Emelianenko is projected to be out of action for four to six weeks, a large swing from the four to six months originally suspected. M-1 Global executives suggest Fedor will be back in action in early 2010.

Emelianenko is suffering from injuries from his Nov. 7 bout with Brett Rogers, where the Russian heavyweight knocked out Rogers in the second round. Emelianenko’s next opponent is yet to be named, but possibilities include Fabricio Werdum, or Strikeforce heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem.
