Renzo Gracie vs. Matt Hughes slated for UFC 109

News

A welterweight match up between Matt Hughes and Renzo Gracie is said to be in the making for UFC 109, the UFC’s Feb. card. Jeremy Botter broke the news over at Heavy.com earlier today.

Hughes is coming off a unanimous decision victory over Matt Serra at UFC 98. After the fight, he signed a large contract with the UFC, but has not been too anxious to dive back into the octagon. A fight with Renzo Gracie seems to have caught his attention, and looks to be just the match up to get Hughes back into the cage.

Gracie last fought at Elite XC: Dynasty, winning via disqualification (knees to the head of a downed opponent) over Frank Shamrock. The Brazilian will enter UFC 109 on a three fight winning streak, including wins over Pat Miletich and Carlos Newton.

UFC 109 is set for Feb. 6 in Las Vegas, Nevada at the Mandalay Bay Events Center. Stay tuned to Inside Fights on breaking news and updates surrounding the February card.
