After breaking onto the scene with Russell Crowe in L.A. Confidential, Guy Pearce and Crowe have taken different paths. While Crowe was busying himself with projects that would elevate his star status, Pearce would star in smaller productions like First Snow and The Hard Word as well as have cameos in this year’s The Hurt Locker and The Road. Now Pearce is set to star opposite Nicolas Cage and Mad Men‘s January Jones in the thriller Hungry Rabbit Jumps.
Helming the project is Roger Donaldson, of The Bank Job and The World’s Fastest Indian previously.
The basic plot involves a man who becomes entangled with an underground vigilante organization after his wife (Jones) is the victim of a brutal crime.
If I’m reading this correctly, the story is a mixture of Death Wish and Fight Club. Cage will probably be the lead, which could be a bust, but it’ll be interesting to see who Pearce will play.
Shooting is scheduled to begin in a few weeks in New Orleans.
