Moviegoers, are you ready to have testicles penetrate your field of view?
Hollywood looks to continue its love affair with 3D by including not just movies geared towards kids and horror junkies, but comedies too. With the recent success of Zombieland, Sony has already signed director Ruben Fleischer for a sequel. This time the horror comedy will be in 3D.
Paramount has given the green light to a third Jackass, this time in 3D. The previous two movies have grossed more than $163 million worldwide.
It’s a smart decision to have these two properties get the 3D treatment. Both appeal to a viewing audience with a disposable income (allowance). It’s also a win for studios and theater chains, both trying to maximize profits.
The sequel to Zombieland is currently being penned by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, and Sony execs are in talks with Woody Harrelson and Jesse Eisneberg to return as the zombie-killing crew.
Jeff Tremaine, who has helmed the previous Jackass movies, declined a comment to Variety about what type of 3D technology would be employed for the third entry.
