Universal Pictures is looking to add yet another chapter to the incredibly successful Jason Bourne trilogy of films, but they may have to do it without their director or their star.
Paul Greengrass has now said that he will not step back in and sit down in the director’s chair for a fourth Bourne film. He is ready to move on and doesn’t want to go through the making of another one. It’s not that he doesn’t want to be involved at all, but he is finished with the directing aspect of it all.
“Jason Bourne existed before me and will continue, and I hope to remain involved in some capacity as the series moves on,” said Greengrass through a statement. “You won’t find a more devoted supporter of the ‘Bourne’ franchise than me.”
What could come as even a bigger blow to the franchise though is the non-confirmation of Matt Damon returning to the lead role. Damon has been busy with numerous other projects and it hasn’t yet been determined if he will be able to take on another project at this time.
No set release date has been set yet for Bourne 4 (tentative name) as the script hasn’t even been completed yet.
