Gossip Girl – Episode 3-12 Review

Shows

Gossip Girl is heating up just as it leaves us for a month hiatus. Seriously, things are getting GOOD.

It’s the anniversary of Bart’s death and Chuck refuses to visit his grave, drowning himself in work. He continues to see his father as a ghost, constantly telling him he isn’t good enough and that every since he told Blair he loved her, he got soft. Because of this, he distances himself from her and starts making real estate deals he would otherwise pass on.

Serena is again wrapped up in Tripp, who is secretly making a deal with his wife about remaining publicly married to avoid career suicide. Meanwhile, Serena is trapped in a house in Nassau County where Tripp took her to get away. Nate is still wary of everything and tries to knock some sense into Serena. After finding out about Tripp’s lies (come on Serena, were you really surprised?!), he attempts to drive her home as they fight. They end up getting in a bad car accident. Being the classy guy he is, he moves Serena into the driver’s seat and flees the scene to avoid the public finding out.

Meanwhile, Dan is “in love” with Vanessa (which I jsut see as a cop-out to keep these two busy while Nate and Serena get together). But anyway, he confesses his love and she doesn’t really respond. I’m hoping this all just fizzles out.

Maureen hands over the letter from Serena’s father to Rufus, who finds out about the affair and he is less-than-thrilled with Lily. From the looks of it, he might be having his own as he flirts with a woman from the environmental group. Oh oh.

Jenny and Eric continue to battle it out. He tries to make her look dumb by giving a new designer bag to one of her minions, but turns out Jenny already has one…and 3 more for her friends. So how did she afford such luxaries? No, not Lily. She’s been getting money from some shady guy (played by Kevin Zegers). Ugh, I really can’t stand her character anymore. And rumor has it, she will be coming between Nate/Serena in the near future. I guess they REALLY want me to hate her.

Anyway, everyone meets up at the hospital to visit Serena, including Tripp. In an AMAZING scene, Nate punches Tripp right in the face for what he did. Haha! I loved this and I am PUMPED to see the whole Nate/Serena thing continue.

Chuck also showed up at the hospital, which reminded him of his father’s death. He finally comes to terms with some of it and talks to Blair. He goes to see his father’s grave and guess who he sees?! HIS DECEASED MOTHER! Keyword: deceased. But this time he isn’t seeing ghosts! The woman is holding yellow roses (his mother’s favorite) and says, “Charles?” as she runs away. Seeing as Bart never told Chuck where his mother was buried, it’s all starting to make sense now. Either way, this is going to make for an interesting storyline.

There you have it! A bunch of cliffhangers that are sure to drive me crazy until January!
