BJ Penn plans to return at UFC 112 in Abu Dhabi

News

The UFC is making the move to the United Arab Emirates’ capital Abu Dhabi this coming April with UFC 112. The card is still several months away, and will be following potential super-card UFC 111. Yet a major main event draw seems to have been landed.

BJ Penn announced on his website today that he plans to make his return to the octagon at UFC 112 in Abu Dhabi, though nothing is official as of yet.

“It looks like we’ll be fighting April 10 in Abu Dhabi. Nothing is signed, so tentative date, April 10. We’ll see how everything goes. Hope everything goes well.”

Penn is coming off a dominant display against Diego Sanchez at UFC 107, finishing “Nightmare” in the third round with a doctor’s stoppage due to a cut. Possible opponents for “The Prodigy” include the winner of Ultimate Fight Night 20’s main event participants, Nick Diaz and Gray Maynard, along with Frankie Edgar.

The Hawaii native has been indestructible at the 155-pound mark, and Abu Dhabi would certainly be in for a treat. Several Rumors are swirling which would certainly make this card a worthwhile follow-up to UFC 111. However, for now, a lightweight championship featuring dominant champion BJ Penn would definitely fit the bill for UFC 112.
