Josh Koscheck vs. Paul Daley set to co-headline UFC 113

News

Josh Koscheck may not have his shot at redemption against Paulo Thiago on Feb. 6 at UFC 109 due to an injury that forced him off of the card, but a spot opposite another welterweight contender in the co-main event of UFC 113 has a nice ring to it.

MMAJunkie.com confirmed that the American Kickboxing Academy member will meet Paul “Semtex” Daley on May 1 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, although the card could possibly have a date-change pending the date the potential Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Shane Mosley boxing match up falls on.

Koscheck is coming off a submission victory over Anthony “Rumble” Johnson at UFC 106 in a fight featuring several breaks in action due to eye pokes by each fighter, along with an illegal strike, courtesy of Johnson. The victory was a nice follow-up to Koscheck’s technical knockout victory over Frank Trigg at UFC 103.

Daley has spent his two fights in the UFC earning every bit of his explosive nickname, knocking out Martin Kampmann at UFC 103 and Dustin Hazelett at UFC 108. Daley has spent his entire career knocking people’s lights out and is off to a phenomenal start with the top promotion in mixed martial arts.

This welterweight showdown should bring the fireworks come May, along with taking on the responsibility of deciding the top contender at the 170 pound mark. The winner of this fight could very well get the next shot at the seemingly untouchable belt that Georges St. Pierre has held onto for some time now.

UFC 113 is set for Montreal, Quebec, Canada on May 1, though the date may be subject to change. The card is headlined by the much-anticipated rematch between light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida and Mauricio “Shogun” Rua. Stay tuned to Inside Fights for breaking news on the first event of May.
