Nonito Donaire Wins Easily In Las Vegas

News

Nonito Donaire knocked out Manuel Vargas in the third round of Top Rank’s Latin Fury 13/Pinoy Power 3 event earlier this evening in Las Vegas. Vargas took the fight on three days notice after the original opponent for Donaire, Gerson Guerrero, failed an eye exam. Donaire’s super flyweight title was not on the line.

Also on the card, Fernando Montiel disposed of Ciso Morales in the first round with a body shot to retain his bantamweight title.

Eric Morel took a split decision over Gerry Penelosa. Penelosa suffered cuts in round six due to a pair of unintentional headbutts. Morel received scores of 116-112 and 115-113 while one judge favored Penelosa with a score of 115-113.

Bernabe Concepcion earned a unanimous decision victory over Mario Santiago with scores of 98-91, 97-92, and 96-93. Concepcion most likely lined himself up for a title shot against Juan Manuel Lopez with the win.
