Best Show TV Madness Tournament Continues With Second Round Voting – Vote For Your Favorite Shows Like Grey's Anatomy, 30 Rock, South Park, Gossip Girl, Big Bang Theory, NCIS, The Colbert Report, The Daily Show, and More!
by Josh Clinton on March 31, 2010

The first round voting has ended and there were plenty of upsets to go around. In fact, the ABC Region could be described as “upset city”. Only 3 top seeds made it to the next round. With the exception of #11 Parks & Recreation #12 Monk, and #15 Ugly Betty, all of the other lower seeds moved on including the two lowest seeds.

In a complete contrast, the FOX Region only had 1 “upset”. That could barely be called one too as it was only a #19 seed beating a #14 seed. The #10 Sons of Anarchy vs. #23 Southland matchup in this region was one of the closest in the first round as well. Both shows have quickly become popular, but Sons pulled it out by a single vote in the end.

The CBS Region only had 3 “upsets”. One was a big one, though, as another 9 seed went down to the lowest 24 seed. Another close match from this region was #14 Nip/Tuck vs. #19 Smallville. Nip/Tuck got a lot of late support, but still couldn’t stop an upset from Smallville. This region also featured the most lop-sided victory of the first round as The Simpsons crushed the little known Kenny vs. Spenny.

The NBC Region only had 1 “upset”, though, and again it featured a low 23 seed over a 10 seed. This region also had THE closest matchup of the first round. Dollhouse needed a tie-breaking vote to beat The Closer.

So looking at the overall first round voting results, it quickly become clear that some of higher shows on a select few ballots of our staff just aren’t as popular to the average TV viewer out there, who voted lower ranked shows ahead of them. Now the second round voting has begun. We have 64 shows left and it’s time for 32 of the most popular shows on television to get their chance to shine. There are plenty of good matchups this round, so go vote and remember to tell everyone you know to vote too!

If you don’t know what this is all about, go back to the First Round Voting Page and get all of the details there. If you did vote in the first round, you should already know, so go check out the updated bracket for yourself by going here:
