The WWE Draft Date Revealed

News

On April 26, Monday Night Raw will hold their annual draft. Naturally, this will be a 3-hour show and cross brand, with all wrestlers appearing.

Currently, I would bet heavily on Chris Jericho finding his way to Raw. With Randy Orton, Triple H, and John Cena all faces, the heel side needs filling out. Sheamus and Jack Swagger are good, but neither is on the level, or really even presented as being on the level of the aforementioned trio of faces. Many expect Triple H to turn heel to even things out, but that will likely be later in the year, closer to Wrestlemania so it seems a bigger deal and has a bigger impact. Jericho being on Raw, especially if he forms some kind of stable with the Miz and Big Show, can be enough of an impact performer to let Sheamus and Swagger develop at their own pace. Swagger, I would assume, moves to Smackdown. Even if he doesn’t have the title, he’s jobbed to much of Raw, so a fresh start as a fresh champion would go a long way. Smackdown is nearly bereft of top talent at this point, but that seems to be more by design than anything else. Edge can feud with Swagger, while the Hart Dynasty work with Miz and Big Show, keeping the top of the card clear for whichever project they next decide to push. Triple H would fit perfectly on Smackdown, as he has little to do on Raw as the #3 face and can simply return later in the year as a heel, but it remains to see if he’d be willing.
