Deadline Hollywood is reporting that Winona Ryder is the latest to join director Ron Howard’s comedy Cheaters (aka Your Cheating Heart).
The Universal release, penned by Allan Loeb (21, Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps), has the actress starring alongside Kevin James and Vince Vaughn. Vaughn and James play best buds and business partners. Ryder plays James’s wife, who Vaughn oversees getting intimate with another man in a restaurant.
The Pulse: I’m wondering if Ron Howard knows how to direct comedy; he’s been away from the genre (directing-wise) for so long – his last was 1999’s EdTV. It is true that his “Funny or Die Presidential Reunion” is comedy gold, but this story just has a been there, done that vibe. Here’s hoping it’ll be one of those guilty pleasure releases like Night Shift.
