Inside Pulse TV Madness Tournament Continues Third Round Voting As 30 Rock, The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, Big Bang Theory, NCIS, NCIS: Los Angeles, The Mentalist, Criminal Minds, and Cold Case All Attempt To Pull Off Upsets Over Top Seeds Including Lost, Mad Men, and More!

Features, Shows

The second round voting has ended and there were some HUGE upsets! All of the #1 seeds are still alive, but the overall #1 seed Lost had a close call with Law & Order. But two #2 seeds, Glee and Survivor weren’t so lucky. Another “rookie” show Castle defeated Glee pretty easily and #18 Rescue Me continued to blaze through the tournament by beating Survivor. The only other top seed to go down was #3 How I Met Your Mother by 2 votes to Bones. That one really disappointed me as How I Met Your Mother has consistently been my favorite show on television.

Looking closer at the ABC Region, there were two BIG upsets. #20 The Soup and #23 The Tudors both continued to beat all comers, including #7 Two and a Half Men and #4 Top Chef. Everything else was pretty much all the top seeds. But #24 Doctor Who almost did pull off another upset as it lost to #8 NCIS: LA by a single vote.

In the FOX Region, there was only 1 upset and that was #2 Glee going down. The Office completely CRUSHED Celebrity Apprentice in the most lop-sided victory of the second round. The only close matchups was CSI beating Sons of Anarchy by 5 votes.

The CBS Region had 3 upsets once again. The big one was Rescue Me over Survivor. But Law & Order: SVU easily beat Grey’s Anatomy, as did Supernatural over Desperate Housewives. Burn Notice barely beat The Simpsons by 4 votes, and True Blood only beat Smallville by 3 votes.

Finally, the NBC Region had the most upsets of the second round with 4. One could barely be called that with #9 Cold Case over #8 American Idol. But of the bottom half of that region was crazy as #11 Dollhouse, #14 Bones, and two-time upsetter #23 The Good Wife all beat higher seeds. The only high seed left down there is #2 Friday Night Lights.

So looking at the overall second round voting results, it looks like Inside Pulse TV readers don’t like reality shows more than “scripted” shows. There are ZERO reality shows left. But now the third round voting has begun. We have 32 shows, and even more interesting matchups this time around. Can some of the higher upsets continue to advance into the Sweet 16? It’s up to you!

If you don’t know what this is all about, go back to the First Round Voting Page and Second Round Voting Page and get all of the details there. If you did vote in the first two rounds, you should already know, so go check out the updated bracket for yourself by going here:

Sir Linksalot: Television News

I'm not embarrassed to say that my favorite television show of all-time is The O.C. I live by the motto "you can't fight fate!" More importantly, I watch WAY too much television, but I do so for the benefit of everyone reading this now. So to my mom and my wife, I say thanks for reading! To everyone else that might stumble across this, remember TiVo should be your best friend!
