Inside Pulse TV Madness Continues With Sweet 16 Round Voting Including Top Seeds 24, Friday Night Lights, Chuck, Big Bang Theory, and More!

Features, Shows, Top Story

The third round voting has ended and it was the closest voting yet! In the beginning of the week, the majority of the remaining top seeds were in danger of going down, including the #1 overall seed Lost. But by the end of the week, they had all mostly survived another round. All of the #1 seeds are still alive, as are the remaining two #2 seeds. However, two more #3 seeds did go down in this round.

In the ABC Region, there was only 1 upset. #6 NCIS barely beat #3 Breaking Bad. If more people new about that AMC series, I don’t think this would have been close as anyone who has seen Breaking Bad will tell you it blows NCIS out of the water in terms of quality. Surprisingly, #5 South Park had an easier time winning than #1 Lost and #2 24 did.

In the FOX Region, there was only 1 upset as well. #15 Castle continued its “Cinderella” run into the Sweet 16 as it too down #7 CSI fairly easy. The remaining top seeds advanced, but it was close especially for Modern Family over The Colbert Report and Chuck over The Daily Show. Late votes turned both of those results around the other way.

The CBS Region had 1 upset, and again it was a #6 seed over a #3 seed. True Blood just couldn’t compete with The Big Bang Theory. Mad Men and Burn Notice almost lost, though. #10 Supernatural had a tough fight with another high seed #18 Rescue Me, but in the end it was Supernatural that continues its run into the Sweet 16.

Finally, the NBC Region also had 1 upset. Although, it was the #14 Bones over the #11 Gossip Girl, so that wasn’t much of an upset. But #1 Dexter and #2 Friday Night Lights both had easy times with their opponents. House also had a relatively easy time with 30 Rock, but this was the closest matchup from this region.

So looking at the overall at the final 16 shows. There were 3 shows each from FOX, NBC, and ABC. There were only 2 from CBS. There was 1 CW show, and the remaining 4 shows were from 4 different cable and premium channels, including AMC, SHOWTIME, USA NETWORK, and COMEDY CENTRAL. So while CBS may be the #1 network overall, they aren’t the #1 network for younger viewers in the key 18-44 demographic, and as a result it appears that the majority of Inside Pulse readers fall into that same age range.

We are now getting closer to the end. There are 16 shows left and it’s time for some of the top shows to face off against each other. There are still a few “upset-looking” shows left in the tournament, but this is usually the round where “Cinderella” teams fall off. Once again, there are plenty of interesting matchups in the Sweet 16 round to decide on.

If you don’t know what this is all about, go back to the First Round Voting Page, Second Round Voting Page, and Third Round Voting, and get all of the details there. If you did vote in the first three rounds, you should already know, so go check out the updated bracket for yourself by going here:

Sir Linksalot: Television News

I'm not embarrassed to say that my favorite television show of all-time is The O.C. I live by the motto "you can't fight fate!" More importantly, I watch WAY too much television, but I do so for the benefit of everyone reading this now. So to my mom and my wife, I say thanks for reading! To everyone else that might stumble across this, remember TiVo should be your best friend!
