Disc News: Dr. Horrible to terrorize Blu-ray

Disc Announcements, News

From early listings on Amazon.com, Joss Whedon fans have long known that Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog was coming to Blu-ray in the next few months.

Now, thanks to new information from New Video Group, Whedonites can rest assured that the Blu-ray will come packed with all the special features from the original DVD.

Created during the Great Writers Strike of 2007, Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog stars Neil Patrick Harris as a show tunes crooning diabolical genius that finds his plans at world-conquest (and love) ruined by the dim-witted Captain Hammer (Nathan Fillion). Felicia Day co-stars as Penny, the girl Dr. Horrible spends his days pining over.

Originally presented as a three-part web series, Dr. Horrible will be available to own on Blu-ray on May 25.

Special features include:

  • Commentary with cast and creators
  • Commentary! The Musical — an incredible send-up of DVD commentaries done as a musical.
  • A making-of featurette
  • A collection of ten video applications submitted by fans attempting to join the Evil League of Evil
  • Finally, the Blu-ray will contain a sampling of easter eggs – just waiting for you to find them.

Whether you have yet to see Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog (and really, what are you waiting for?) or you already know all the songs’ words by heart, this is a must own for fans of superheroes, musicals or just good things in general.
