Tonight’s final season premiere of “The Hills” should come with the disclaimer “Warning: Disturbing Images.” Don’t get me wrong, I revel in trashy TV as much as the next person. (OK, more.) But Audrina and the gang have crossed the line from guilty pleasure to irresponsible social experiment.
What started as “Laguna Beach,” a silly little show about overprivileged teenagers, has devolved into this final season of “The Hills.” It can no longer be even marginally classified as reality TV. It’s surreality TV, something closer to performance art with no actual meaning.
