NFL: Minnesota Vikings QB Brett Favre's Ankle Requires Surgery To Play Again!

Top Story

For the second offseason in a row, Brett Favre will require surgery in order to play again next season.

All offseason it has seemed to be a foregone conclusion that Favre would be back to lead the Vikings in 2010, but with the announcement that Favre would need surgery yet again put that theory in doubt.

Favre injured the ankle in the NFC Championship game against the New Orleans Saints, and the ankle still hasn’t begun heeling. Favre spoke with Dr. James Andrews who said surgery was unavoidable.

This could work out one of two ways, it might finally force Favre to retire if he doesn’t want to go through another surgery and rehab, or it could give him his excuse to miss the first month of training camp. Myself, I’m thinking it’s going to be the latter. He hates training camp and this could give him his chance to miss training camp without retiring and without people asking why he’s under contract and not in camp.
