Scott Smith And Cung Le Will Fight Again On June 26

News

Cung Le wanted a rematch with Scott Smith, and he’ll get exactly what he wanted on June 26, when the two will fight in San Jose on the Strikeforce and M-1 Global co-promoted show that will feature a fight between Fedor Emelianenko and Fabricio Werdum.

The fight is expected to be the co-main event along with the Emelianenko-Werdum bout.

Smith (17-6) defeated Le when the two first fought last December. Smith had been losing the fight to Le, but he exploded in the third round with a series of punches that first stunned then finished Le.

Smith has lost two of his last five fights. He was submitted by Nick Diaz last June, and was beaten via TKO by Robbie Lawler in July 2008. His three wins came over Le, Benji Radach, and Terry Martin.

Le (6-1) rose to stardom quickly and won the Strikeforce Middleweight title in only his sixth fight when he beat Frank Shamrock. Le later vacated the title due to movie obligations. He’ll look to avenge his loss to Smith, and finish the fight unlike he was able to do in their first meeting.
