NBA: Washington Wizards Guard Gilbert Arenas Released From Halfway House

News

After being sentenced to one month in a halfway house for gun possession, Gilbert Arenas is once again a free man.

Arenas brought several guns into the Washington Wizards team locker room, a felony in the District of Columbia. His sentence also includes two years of probation, a $5,000 fine and 400 hours of community service that can’t be performed at basketball clinics.

The Wizards have said that Arenas will be on the team next year and they hope he’s once again the marquee player on the team. Arenas has four years remaining on a six-year, $111 million contract he signed with the Wizards in the summer of 2008.
