Federal Investigators Charge Dr. Anthony Galea With Giving Athletes Unapproved Drugs
by Chad Jorgenson on May 19, 2010

Galea has worked with athletes like Alex Rodriguez and Tiger Woods and many NFL players.

Galea has been linked to illegal use of Human Growth Hormone and was charged with conspiring to lie to federal investigators.

A former doctor for the Canadian Football League’s Toronto Argonauts, Galea is known for using a blood-spinning technique designed to speed recovery from injuries.

However, he is not authorized to work in the United States, U.S. Attorney William Hochul said, and is accused of repeatedly entering the country from 2007 to 2009 to treat professional athletes from Major League Baseball, the NFL and the PGA Tour.

He is also accused of introducing the unapproved drug Actovegin, a derivative of calf’s blood used to speed healing.
