Thunder Cats Co-Creator Missing Under Grisly Circumstances

News, Top Story

Tampa Bay Online has reported that Steve Perry the co-creator of the 1980s cartoon series Thunder Cats is missing and his two roommates are under police custody. Perry’s van was discovered in a bloody state with a severed arm reported at the scene.

It is no secret that Steve Perry has hit hard times of late with his rights to Thunder Cats residing now solely with his co-creator and his own medical and financial issues mounting. If in fact Steve Perry has met his end as his friend Steve Bissette seems to believe, this is an unparalleled tragedy in the close knit comics industry. Steve Bissette shares further thoughts on Steve Perry in another article on his site that really illustrates his troubled life and creative credits. The story gets more bizarre with the jail house interview of one of the roommates.

On a personal note, I was a huge fan of Thunder Cats and Silver Hawks as a boy and thank Steve Perry and his partners for such great childhood memories.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Steve Perry’s family and friends as this grisly story unfolds. Hopefully, there will be a happy ending, but it seems more unlikely as the days go on.
