As a follow-up to the grisly news story reported earlier this week, Police have now confirmed that their investigation of Thunder Cats and Silver Hawks co-creator Stephen Perry has turned into a homicide investigation.
Captain Rob McKinney of the Zephyrhills Police Department in Florida has indicated:
The Zephyrhills Police Department is now investigating the disappearance of Stephen J. Perry as an apparent homicide.
Laboratory results on evidence are still pending at this time.
Krystal Carroll, the mother of Perry’s 5-year-old son Leo, has responded to this tragic development by saying:
I cried. I cried when they told me.
I am glad they are releasing the information to the public.
At least the public will know and there will be no more speculation about whether he was murdered. I am glad that we will start coming to some kind of closure not only for me and my son, but for the rest of his family as well. I am a little disappointed I was never contacted by a detective about this.
Leo wants to know what happened to his dad.
They were very ,very close. When a 5-year-old asks, ‘What happened, how did it happen,’ you just can’t come up with anything to say

A 1980s comic and pop culture pioneer is now gone, but his creations live on to entertain.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of Stephen Perry at this very difficult time.
