Vertigo characters to migrate back to DC proper?
by Grey Scherl - June 2, 2010 | Email the author

It’s being reported that a new Swamp Thing series is in the works, not under the Vertigo imprint. Instead he will be returning to the DC Universe proper, but apparently he won’t be alone. Characters created initially for the DCU and then moved to Vertigo will be put back on the table for DCU authors. These include Prez, Shade, and Black Orchid.

Now, my first reaction to the news about Shade and Black Orchid was…. hmm…. Suicide Squad alumni. Could a new SS be likely? But, they also have great solo potential. Swamp Thing would be an interesting book in the main DCU too. Prez…. not so much.

Maybe it is also time Vertigo also take some DC proper properties? Perhaps Green Arrow? Manhunter?

Yorick vs. Luthor!

Shade is a better fit in Vertigo. Black Orchid and Swamp Thing are long overdue.
Shade’s vertigo run was longer then his squad tenure, ditto black orchid. Like Constantine, Vertigo has at least as much credit for those characters as DC proper, if at all.

Weird with Shade seeing as he’s in the current Hellblazer arc.

I do think they should also shift some characters over to Vertigo.

For those interested, I posted an e-mail from author China MiƩville to my site, Roots of the Swamp Thing, today. Mr. MiƩville was gracious enough to offer a glimpse at what his plans for the series would have been:
