Marvel’s Widow Maker Crossover Promises To Debut New Ronin

News

Hawkeye and Mockingbird is the hot new title from Marvel by writer Jim McCann and artist David Lopez, featuring, well, Hawkeye and Mockingbird.

Black Widow has featured Natasha getting the run in a solo series currently by writer Marjorie Liu, but Duane Swierczynski is taking the helm with issue number six.

Starting with Hawkeye and Mockingbird #7, however, and continuing into Black Widow #9 is a crossover called Widow Maker. This promises to be a most interesting crossover if not just for the fact that with Black Widow you have Clint Barton’s first love, and with Mockingbird you have the true love. It’s like putting Scott Summers in a room with Emma Frost and Jean Grey, only instead of telepaths they’re spies, and there are arrows involved. Lots of arrows.

But the four parter also promises to debut a new character in the Ronin identity that, while initially created for Maya “Echo” Lopez, became Clint’s identity from the time of his return after Civil War up until he reclaimed the Hawkeye identity at the beginning of the Heroic Age. But who is this new Ronin? Who does he work for, what does he want, and most importantly, is it another woman that everybody assumes is a dude?

The crossover starts in December, don’t miss it! And for more, check out CBR’s interview with McCann and Swierczynski.
