Dan Haren Will Accept A Trade

News

Dan Haren has said that he would be willing to accept a trade under certain circumstances. His preference is to stay on the west coast, but would listen to other geographic locations.

He has a limited no-trade clause that allows him to veto deals to 12 organizations, which I believe are east coast teams.

While his numbers haven’t been up to par for the pitcher, there should be numerous teams interested. It’s been reported in the last couple of days that the Cardinals and the Phillies are interested.

Haren has 2 years remaining on his deal, which will earn him $12.75MM per season. He also has a $15.5MM option for 2013 with a $3.5MM buyout. This is very reasonable for a pitcher of his caliber. It’s unknown at this time what the D’backs are looking for in return.
