The Seattle Mariners are saying that Erik Bedard probably won’t be pitching this year, after an MRI showed inflammation in his surgically repaired shoulder.
Bedard hasn’t pitched since almost a year (last July 25th); he had surgery on his torn labrum last August. He signed a one year deal for $1.75MM with the Mariners, with the knowledge he wouldn’t be ready for the start of the season. In the Spring, they were expecting him by the end of May; his rehab was slow, but he began his rehab assignment last month. He started to feel shoulder pain shortly after his rehab starts began.
