Marlin's Outfielder Coghlan Hurt on Prank

News

The Florida Marlins outfielder, and reigning NL Rookie of the Year, Chris Coghlan was injured Sunday night while delievering a pie to the face of teammate Wes Helms.

Coghlan tore his meniscus in his left knee and could go under the knife. If he needs surgery, he could miss 6-8 weeks.

Helms hit a pinch hit, game winning single with the bases loaded in the 11th inning against the Braves. In the post game interview, Coghlan nailed Helms with a pie. Manager Edwin Rodriguez said that this was the last celebration/prank for the Marlins.

He’s being placed on the 15-Day DL and Logan Morrison will take his roster spot.

This in not the first celebration injury this year; Kendry Morales of the Angels broke his left leg as he jumped on home plate after a game ending grand slam in May. Morales is out for the season.
