Joseph Gordon-Levitt Crashes Into Taxicab Window

News, Projects

Vin Diesel and Paul Walker may look fast and furious behind a wheel, but neither can match Joseph Gordon-Levitt when it comes to putting the pedal to the medal. On the set of Premium Rush, an action-thriller where JGL plays a bike messenger who is being pursued by a dirty cop, he had a minor accident when his bike crashed into the back window of a taxi cab. Shards of glass cut open his arm, but not too deep. Totally unfazed by the accident, Gordon-Levitt had director David Koepp record the aftermath before EMTs could stitch him up. The footage would be uploaded to his Tumblr blog (found by Anne Thompson of indieWIRE).

In his blog, JGL writes, “Busted through the rear window of a cab. Luckily got my elbows up. Coulda been way worse. No, but it was my fault, I was going too fast.” The actor is seriously committed at doing his own stuntwork as the film Inception illustrates. While the severity of the injury isn’t on the level of Sylvester Stallone’s choreographed brawl with wrestler-now-actor “Stone Cold” Steve Austin on the set of The Expendables, it could have been much worse. I love the guys tenacity but you can bet that after the accident and taking-it-in-stride video post, someone on set whispered in his or best Dennis Hopper voice and said, “Tone it down, man.”

Premium Rush will be released by Sony in 2011.
