Confirmed: Aaron Johnson not in X-Men: First Class

Casting News, News, Projects

Well, it looks like those who were expecting Aaron Johnson to play Cyclops in Matthew Vaughn’s X-Men: First Class (as Entertainment Weekly reported a few weeks ago) will have to get out the pencils and erasers and redo their casting lists.

While he was out promoting the DVD and Blu-ray Disc release of Kick-Ass, the film’s producer Tarquin Pack told Movieweb that Johnson will not be appearing in the new X-Men movie.

“Don’t believe everything you read in the papers about Aaron, unfortunately. Aaron’s kind of busy, yeah.”

While Johnson would have been a nice addition to the cast, his career could have suddenly turned into Sam Worthington’s. At one time the actor was in contention for the role of the new Spider-man flick and had been considered at one point to star in Bryan Singer’s Jack the Giant Killer, which its development is now delayed. Though maybe it’s for the best. Johnson, who is still a young actor (age 20), became a father for the first time in early July.

So with a void in the spot where Johnson coulda, shoulda, woulda been, who would be the best fit for Cyclops now?
