This doesn’t surprise, I mean, just the other day we found out that the push is being made to do three Green Lantern movies in three years, so they can’t slouch! So anyway, Warner Bros. has signed Michael Goldenberg to pen the sequel.
Goldenberg has a resume that includes writing credits on Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Contact, and, of course, Green Lantern. Though in the case of Green Lantern it was a film he co-wrote with Greg Berlanti, Michael Green and Marc Guggenheim. For Green Lantern 2 though it looks as if he’s doing the job on his own.
Now, we’ve got tenish months until Green Lantern hits theaters, and I mean, if they put forth the right directed effort, I don’t see them having any problems pulling off their plans. If Lord of the Rings could do it, if they second and third Martrix movies could do it, then there is no reason to doubt that Green Lantern can do it.
You just have to wonder what will happen with the Deadpool movie, because I get the feeling that the GL trilogy will take priority on Ryan Reynolds schedule long enough to kill the momentum of that flick.
Who knows, maybe without a movie in the works Marvel can finally cut back some of the Deadpool titles!

Depending on the contracts involved, Deadpool might take precedence over one or more of the sequels, or they can film the second unit on one of the films while the lead is working elsewhere.
This is also a pretty big gamble for the normally play-it-safe WB. 2 sequels announced before a bonafide hit is even revealed on a niche property. They can always weasel out and do a turnaround, but Im really hoping that comic movies continue to do well, because successful stuff opens the door for the more interesting stuff.
