To steal a phrase from the movie Poolhall Junkies, Carla Gugino has got “body karate” – in that it kicks ass. She has upstaged the likes of Jennifer Lopez as the fictional heroine Karen Sisco (sorry J.Lo, Gugino is just a better U.S. Marshal than you) and played Mickey Rourke’s parole officer in Sin City. Too bad she only preferred gals to guys in that one. And she’s also played a porn actress in her husband’s (Sebastian Gutierrez) comedies Women in Trouble and Elektra Luxx. Whether she’s busting those who have jumped bail or being the ultimate spy mom in Spy Kids Gugino always looks good. So when you hear her name mentioned to be involved with a potential film called MILF guys can’t help but salivate at the thought.
However, this MILF isn’t the anachronism that you think it is. The title is Mother I’d Like to Fight, and it is a “revenge story about a woman who, recently released from prison, returns to the street to take care of some unfinished business.” [24 Frames] With Frank Khalfoun (P2) at the helm and Alexandre Aja (Piranha 3D) as a producing partner, it looks to be B-grade pulp. But hey, female asskickers are in these days. After Hit-Girl (Kick-Ass) and Angelina Jolie in Salt – not to mention Zack Snyder’s upcoming Sucker Punch – I think we can handle Gugino as a MILF. She has the resume to back it up.
