King Mo out for nine months with cruciate ligament injuries

News

Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal is facing an layoff of nine months with his manager Ryan Parsons telling Sherdog that the former Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Champion will undergo surgery on his left knee, repairing both anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments. Parsons said that the injury occured during Lawal’s fight against Rafael “Feijao” Cavalcante. This is the second time that Lawal has injured his cruciate ligaments, having undergone ACL surgery after facing Ryo Kawamura in 2009.

“Mo wanted to take one more fight, but we decided that this injury should be attended to first,” said Parsons after Lawal received an examination from his physician yesterday. After losing his title to Rafael “Feijao” Cavalcante last Saturday at Strikeforce: Houston, one would think that things couldn’t get much worse for Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal. It turns out that they can.
