Okay, consider this a rumor for now, but Stallone told London’s The Sun that he has a script ready for a sequel to The Expendables. That isn’t the rumor part. The rumor is who else will be added to the cast, because the principal players are already game for a sequel.
A few weeks back, the MTV Movie Blog cast Arnold Schwarzenegger’s mercenary team which included Michael Biehn, Kurt Russell and Steven Seagal.
Two other actors mentioned in the article are believed to have had conversations with Stallone are Carl Weathers and Jean-Claude Van Damme. Van Damme turned down Sly’s initial offer for the first film, but considering how well it has done, he wants in on the action.
Other actors believed to be up for the sequel include Mr T., Hulk Hogan, Vin Diesel, and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. [Movie Jungle]
In interviews, Stallone has said that there’s a big misconception with doing sequels. “People think doing a sequel is easy, but it’s not because you need the element of surprise. I’m going to try and do something that’s quite radical.”
Well, Sly, I guess this means that in the sequel there’s the potential of seeing an Old Spice ad man squaring off against a spokesman for World of Warcraft. And Apollo can get his vengeance on Ivan Drago.
