NCAA News: Big Ten Reportedly Have Set New Divisions For 2011

News

Nebraska is joinging the confrence and that means the confrence needs two divisions.

The confrence hasn’t announced what the new divisons will be, but Wisconsin AD Barry Alvarez said Wisconsin and Iowa would be in seperate divisions. Wisconsin and Iowa first met in 1894 and have played 85 times.

The Badgers and Hawkeyes are currently protected rivals and have played every season since 1995. Despite being in seperate divisions, it is still likely the two teams will continue to play each other each year.

The confrence isn’t announcing full divisions yet because they haven’t finalized the schedule for 2011. The biggest hurdle in making a schedule for 2011 is the fact that most teams already had their non-confrence schedules set for that year.
